- Get 2 Potaoes (slice it)
- Get 2 tablespoons Yellow Mustard paste
- Take 2 tablespoons Curd
- Get To taste Salt
- Get 1 pinch Asafoetida
- Take 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper powder
- Get 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- Get 1/2 teaspoon Coriander powder
- Prepare 1/4 teaspoon Black mustard seeds
- Prepare 1 1/2 teaspoon Garlic paste
- Take as required Oil (for making)
Add the shallots and cook until soft. Over a gentle heat, melt the oil and butter in a large saucepan. Add the finely sliced onion and cover the pan with a lid. In a heavy saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.
Steps to make Potato in Mustard Gravy:
- In a bowl/plate, take potato slices, a bit of salt, a pinch of turmeric powder and 1/2 teaspoon garlic paste and coat it well over potatoes.
- Meanwhile, heat 1/4 cup of oil in a wok and fry these potatoes in it until it gets nice light golden colour.
- Now heat a tablespoon of oil in wok, add black mustard seeds and asafoetida in it and allow it to crackle.
- Now add yellow mustard paste, all spices and salt in it and cook it on low flame.
- Now add curd in it and cook it until spices mix starts leaving sides of the wok.
- Now add water in it as per the requirement and bring it to a boil.
- Then add fried potato slices in it cook it for 5-7 minutes and switch off the flame.
- Potato in mustard gravy is ready to serve now.
Blend in flour, salt and pepper. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth and bubbly. Meanwhile, to make the gravy, heat a knob of butter in a pan then cook the onion until golden and soft.
